YOGYAKARTA DAY 5 : KERATON NGAYOGYAKARTA HADININGRAT
Oh here I am writing a blog post about our last day in Yogyakarta. I miss all of the moments. I can't wait to explore another city, another country. For your info, I am in the middle of my internship program as an intern graphic designer for the next 3 months, that's why I will be less active here, but I'll try my best to update. So far, it went well, tiring and challenging at the same time. Wish me luck!
Back to my Yogyakarta trip, on our last day we decided to visit Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat. Keraton is a Sultan Palace. The entrance ticket cost : IDR 5.000,- for local. As always, different price applied for foreigner : IDR 15.000,-. If you bring a camera, don't forget to purchase another ticket to legally taking photos inside just for IDR 1.000,- per camera, and you will get a label to put on your camera. If you never visit this palace before, better hire a guide that will tell you more details about the history of this site. Many guides are waiting in front of the entrance gate.
There are also daily performances, from puppet show, traditional dance, to musical performance. So make sure to leave your hotel earlier because they start the performance from 9.00 am, 9.30 am, or 10.00 am depends on the day and performance. Me my self, sadly, don't get the chance to see any performance because I didn't know the schedule, so you better check the schedule first :)
Monday - Tuesday : Gamelan music performance (start from 10.00 WIB)
Wednesday : Puppet show - wooden doll puppet (start from 10.00 WIB)
Thursday : Traditional dance performance (start from 10.00 WIB)
Friday : Macapat - Traditional Javanese poem (start from 09.00 WIB)
Saturday : Leather puppet show (start from 09.30 WIB)
Sunday : Human puppet and traditional dance performance (start from 09.30 WIB)
But sadly, there isn't much to see there. It was kinda boring, since they renovate some areas, so I can't really explore the whole area. I've been to this palace before and I kinda like it, but I wish I could explore more this time round. Hmm...just unlucky me :(
